Centenary College of Physical Education main purpose of starting this institution is to meet a precise need to train schoolteachers for the elementary and high schools in our Karnataka State. The college mission is to develop into a Karnataka State concerned Teacher Training Institution with Special identity & character & to develop sports. The college vision is to develop physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, culturally, Integrated & Morally committed teachers to serve in the state and to create a new work culture for improving the practice of school education through teaching, research and extension activities.

Need for BPEd

The role of education in the development of the Society is of paramount importance, especially in the context of our rural background. It is against this backdrop that Anathasevashrama Trust has given prominence to education and has opened many High Schools mainly in rural areas.

With the introduction of free and compulsory primary education, the demand for good High School Physical Education Training Institutions has gained momentum and with a view to meet this demand Anathasevashrama Trust Malladihalli has opened many Physical Education Training Institute one of which is Centenary College of Physical Education, Malladihalli started in the year 1990-91. The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Southern Regional Office, Bangalore, which is the controlling authority, has granted Permanent affiliation and permission, Davangere University Conducted the Examinations

Computer Center
Knowledge of computers is the need of the hour in the modern world. To keep our students abreast with essential information and Communication technology, Computer education is made a compulsory subject of Syllabus. A well-equipped Computer Centre with qualified staff is established needs of the students

The Course
Those who have passed Degree may join this two year course. By passing this course, a candidate gains eligibility to Grade-1 Physical Education Teacher in Highschool. Apart from theory classes the students will have to undergo practice in teaching and at the end of second year they will be put on 3 months’ internship. During the course they will have to practice teaching at the local High schools, undergo citizenship Training and undertake educational excursion.

Intake
The annual intake is 50 students. The Management fills these seats on the basis of merit with due reservation to different categories as per department regulations.

Eligibility
A Candidate seeking admission to BPEd. course must fulfill the following conditions:

  • The candidate should be an INDIAN citizen and should have passed the any degree in Karnataka State or a course equivalent thereto.
  • A candidate who has passed any Degree any university in India
  • A candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks in Degree Examination or any other examination deemed equivalent thereto.
  • The S.C/S.T candidates should have obtained at least 40% marks in the qualifying examination. Category I and other backward class students must obey the State Govt. orders regularly.
  • The eligible candidates should submit the following documents to the college office at the time of admission.
  • Original Marks Card of the qualifying examination.
  • Original Transfer Certificate
  • Original Caste Certificate in case of candidates other than General Merit.

 Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to the eligible students both by the department and the Management for the deserving. Financial assistance is also arranged through Students Welfare Fund and the Teachers’ Benefit Fund of the education department.

Discipline and Conduct
Students are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline both in and out of college campus. They are required to attend the classes regularly and must behave with utmost courtesy at the campus. They have to see that no damage is done to the property of the institution. The students shall be collectively and individually responsible for any loss or damage caused by them to the property.

Library
The Training Centre has a well-equipped Library of its own with a 12000+ books and journals to cater to the needs of the students and staff.

Location
Located in a relatively quiet part of the city, the school enjoys 100 acres of spacious, serene lush-green atmosphere conducive to effective and healthy learning. 2.5 Km. from Railway station of Malladihalli, the institution is accessible through the NH-4 and a broad gauge railway line, about 245 Km from the state capital, Bangalore, a journey of about 5 hours.

Education Society & Administration
Anathasevashrama, one of the leading religious and charitable Institutions in India rendering yeoman service for the upliftment of the mankind in general, established Poojya Sri Raghavendra Swamiji in 1943. The Education Society started in 1950 functioning in the field of education in rural parts and now it is running 14 Institutions spread over 4 districts of the state of Karnataka:– Nearly 10 thousand students are studying in various schools and colleges of this education society which is one of the biggest private educational organizations in the State.

The present pontiff of the Brihanmath His Holiness Poojya Sri Dr. Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru is the present President of the Trust. His Holiness the swamiji is a world famous for ‘Vachana Sahithya’.

Another special feature of the Society is its administrative set up. The administration of the entire Society is being run in accordance with the democratic pattern. Each Institution is governed by a Local Advisory Committee consisting of the elected members. There is one Governing Council at the Head quarter at Chitradurga Bruhanmut. The Local Advisory Committees function as representatives of the Governing Council at the top.
